Mining and aggregates operations involve extensive metalworking to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment and machinery working with aggregate and mined materials. Drilling, tapping, countersinking, and reaming holes is common in both the shop and the field, often carried out on large, partially inaccessible equipment where downtime must be kept to a minimum.
The abrasive nature of these materials means wear plates such as HARDOX®, ABRO®, and STRENX® are widely used on conveyors, hoppers, and mobile equipment. Working with these hardened steels requires controlled, reliable holemaking methods. Portable, modular drilling systems, combined with cutting tools developed specifically for high-wear materials, allow maintenance and metalworking tasks to be completed efficiently and safely in demanding quarry and mine conditions.
